A gig economy is a labor system where freelancers are common.
Companies in a gig economy will tend to hire freelancers over full timers.
Rex:
Over the past few decades a number of expressions to talk about work have become popular.
Joe:
For those who work a regular full time job, they might describe it as their daily grind.
Rex:
And if you have a full time job and do freelance work, the side work you do would be called your side gig.
Joe:
Another way to refer to a side gig is a side hustle.
A hustle emphasizes the fact that you are pushing to make extra income.
Rex:
so it’s not unusual to hear a sentence like I’ve got a side hustle on top of my daily grind.
Joe:
Much like the major technology changes that have happened over the past few decades, the way we work is also undergoing big changes.
Rex:
